When you’re looking for your perfect sunscreen, there are some things that need to be considered. For example, what kind of skin type do you have? Is the sunscreen you’re looking at non-comedogenic? What’s the SPF of the sunscreen? If you’re wanting to find the perfect sunscreen for you, take a look at some of my suggestions and tips to help you in your search.
Make sure that the face sunscreen or face lotion you use says “non-comedogenic”. This means that the formula is designed to prevent breakouts and won’t clog your skin. Products that don’t say non-comedogenic might break you out on your face, where your skin is more sensitive, but may be fine to use on the rest of the body (arms, legs, hands, etc). Just be careful—if you’re prone to breakouts anywhere else on your body, like your back, use the non-comedogenic sunscreen there as well.
Did you know that SPF stands for sun protection factor? Well, that’s how important it is! According to the American Academy of Dermatology Association, you should use a sunscreen that has an SPF of at least 30. This will protect your skin from 97% of the sun’s harmful rays.
If you have oily skin, use a sunscreen lotion that will help manage your oil, not aggravate it. Look for an oil-free sunscreen and one that is specifically formulated for oily skin. With the use of powder (or even this powder sunscreen!), your skin can be protected and oil-free.
If your skin is more on the dry side, then look for a sunscreen that will be nourishing for your skin. There’s a difference between moisturizing and greasy, so it might take a few attempts until you find the right one for you. Try this one here!
