With summer already upon us, now is the best time to stock up on healthy snacks.
The taboo of snacking is one of the great misconceptions of modern dieting.
Many people are falling for this myth in their pursuit of a lean, muscular body. The misconception itself is that snacking leads to excessive, unnecessary calorie intake. This thus increases weight and avoidable body fat. NOT TRUE!
Nutritionists have found that this is not the case. Snacking on simply unhealthy snacks like potato chips or ice cream will inevitably lead to unhealthy weight gain. However, a number of healthy and tasty snack alternatives have been found to pose no problem for dieters. In fact, they actually contribute to their goal of getting or staying lean.
The first of these snacks is none other than simple, mixed nuts. Nuts are high in fat but become filling very quickly. Thus, eating them in moderate amounts can often result in weight loss. Mixed nuts are also high in healthy fat, fiber, and protein, and are relatively low in calorie. Since nuts do not need to be refrigerated, they are an extremely practical snack, and are perfect for on-the-go and require no preparation.
Similar to nuts, hard-boiled eggs are an extremely filling snack, and carry a vast number of health benefits. Like nuts, eggs are rich in healthy fats. As well, they contain quality proteins and a number of essential vitamins and minerals. Due to the fact that eggs increase fullness, they inevitably lead to reduced hunger at later meals, making it easier to avoid over-eating and thus staying lean. Eggs are relatively low in calorie as well, and while they require one of many different types of preparation, even the most thorough and complicated methods do not take very long.
Lastly, one of the most popular healthy snacks, which has gained greater attention over the past couple years, is avocado. This heart-healthy, fiber-loaded fruit has more potassium than even bananas, and practically any preparation of it serves as a filling and healthy snack. Any quick search on the internet shows the vast number of creative ways in which nutritionists suggest avocado preparation. Some can use it as a spread on toast. Others can fill it with yogurt or cream cheese. Due to their ability to not only help dieters lose weight, but to also prevent diseases and absorb the nutrients of other foods, avocados are the king of modern diets and nutrition plans.
The three above foods are only some of the many that contribute to weight loss and provide a vast number of nutrients to the body.
With a lean body being a healthy body, snacks like these will inevitably allow dieters to rock the healthiest version of the summer body they’ve always wanted, while keeping their nutrition in check along the way.
