Sun protection is not just an issue for the skin – the hair is mercilessly exposed to the sun due to its unfavorable position.
Many blondes love the sun, because the UV rays bleach the hair in a natural way and some even look really good.
The rest of us, however, have to put up with too much sun exposure in the form of faded hair color, rough structure and split tips.
The UV light bleaches, tints, and affects color rather quickly.
The reason for this is that too much sun destroys the creatine layer of the hair, whereupon the color pigmentation is attacked and the hair fades. In addition, the dandruff layer is roughened with damaged hair. Therefore, you should never dye your hair just before your holiday at the beach.
Most people do not know what happens to their hair when exposed to excessive sunlight. One reason for this could be that damaged hair does not cause pain.
And if it is unavoidable and you have to surrender to the sun, either put on a hat, or use a shampoo with conditioner that has a UV filter.
Fortunately there is also UV spray protection. However, you should then do a wet-look, because the hair tends to look a little greasy due to the spray protection or sun oils.
The most important thing is sun protection during lunchtime, especially between 11 AM and 3 PM. Also, don’t forget to refresh the sunscreen for your hair after jumping into the water. That’s what we’re doing for the sunscreen on the skin as well ….
Another option for perfect protection is to use hair masks while sunbathing.
Simply massage in the mask, tie the hair together to form a bun, and you’re done.
Here’s another secret: green tea is a sunscreen for the hair
Yes! Green tea isn’t just terribly healthy when you drink it – it’s also great protection against free radicals that make your hair dull and duller. Simply pour two bags of green tea into 200ml of boiling water, let stand for 15 minutes. Then rinse the previously washed hair with the tea (do not wash afterwards!).
After – Care is as important as the protection
If your hair is already attacked by the sun: Coconut oil is truly a beauty wonder drug. It moisturizes, acts as a protective mantle and has an optimal pH. Knead into damp hair, leave for an hour, then rinse.
