Summer Makeup Tips for Oily Skin

Summer Makeup Tips for Oily Skin

If I were to summarize summer time in three words, it would be hot, sweaty, and glorious! Just because it’s hot outside doesn’t mean that you can’t be hot this summer. Here are five summer makeup tips for oily skin to help you keep your makeup-cool this summer.

Primer

Oily skin is only worsened by the hot summer sun, making it harder for makeup to stay on your beautiful face. Wearing a oil-controlling primer helps your makeup look better for longer. That’s why Becca Cosmetics came out with an oil-stopping primer that will control your oil better.

Sunscreen

The importance of sunscreen cannot be overstated! Wearing sunscreen daily helps protect your skin from UV rays, prevents premature aging, and helps maintain an even skin color. For an all-day sunscreen that won’t break you out or make you look too shiny, try out Elta MD’s tinted face sunscreen.

Don’t over-dry your skin

I get it- it’s hot outside and your face seems to melt off every time you step into the sunshine. There is a difference between hydration and oil, so it’s important to make sure that your skin gets the hydration it needs. Additionally, regularly moisturizing your skin will help prevent it from cracking, tearing, or getting infected. I recommend trying out a light face moisturizer without any sunscreen, or experiment with one with sunscreen built into it.

Try an overall lighter application

In the summertime, it’s a better idea to skip the heavy-duty coverage in favor of a lighter look. Think of lip gloss or chapstick instead of lipstick, tinted moisturizers instead of foundation, or brow gels instead of brow pomade. This will help your skin be able to breathe during the hot summer months- all while still looking hotter than the summer sun.

Blot

If you’re out with your friends and take a quick bathroom break, you may notice that your face is shinier than when you first left the house. Luckily, there’s no need to panic! Try blotting your face with thin blotting paper. Be sure not to wipe, but to blot. After blotting, try lightly powdering your face with a translucent powder to lengthen the longevity of your makeup underneath or to simply keep your skin less oily for longer.

At the end of the day, don’t forget that you are a superstar, regardless of what you look like. Let me know your favorite summer makeup tips for oily skin!
