I have struggled with dry frizzy hair my entire life and I hope that these five tips to tame frizzy hair will help you as much as it helped me. I am of Turkish origin, so my hair is extremely thick and wavy. While thick hair certainly has its benefits one of the downfalls is it can be harder to tame and style. Frizzy hair is caused by a lack of moisture within the hair which then dries the hair out.
The key to eliminating frizz is to keep your hair as moisturized as possible.
After dealing with frizzy hair for years I have come up with a routine that really works for my hair and nearly eliminates all frizz. The five tips I will share in this article have been holy grail tricks for my hair.
First and foremost, I do not wash my hair every day. I usually wash it every three days. The natural oil your hair produces between washes will help keep your hair from drying out.
Second, since I wash my hair about twice a week instead of using a conditioner, I use a hair mask in its place. Currently, I am using the Morrocanoil Intense Hydrating Mask and it has worked amazingly well.
Third, I do not towel dry my hair. The friction from the towel on your hair will only increase the amount of frizz. Instead, I opt for a T-shirt of softer material to dry my hair.
Fourth, I use a wet brush. These brushes have worked the best for my hair. Thistle brushes have only shown to increase frizz on my hair.
Lastly, and this may be the most important tip and that is what products I use for my hair. The one product I am currently obsessed with is a rather new find and that is the tgin green tea super moist leave in conditioner. This product is available at Ulta for a fair price of $8.99. This leave in conditioner leaves my hair very moisturized and soft it is by far the best leave in conditioner I’ve used. I also always use an oil in my hair and my personal favorite is Argan oil.
