Coconut oil has been known for its multi-purpose usage ranging from skin protection, healthier food alternative for cooking, health benefits, etc. Perhaps one of the most common uses of coconut oil is for it’s phenomenal benefits for hair. Curly hair especially gets the advantages of the oil due to curly hair naturally being more dry.  They need more oils and products to help lock in moisture throughout the day. However, all hair types can benefit from coconut oil.

Deep Conditioning

One of the best deep conditioning methods is coconut oil. It penetrates the hair cuticles while locking in moisture. It acts as a sealant from moisture leaving the hair follicle.  Especially for thinner hair, coconut oil can help reduce hair loss by penetrating deep into the hair shaft and preventing protein loss.

Hair Growth

Coconut oil is an effective way to stimulate hair growth among all hair types. The vitamins packed in coconut oil such as vitamin E and healthy omega-3 fatty acids.  This helps the scalp stay hydrated from itching or scabbing.  Additionally,  it can also help with making hair follicles less brittle and improving the strength of the hair strands. This will also promote healthier hair growth.

Easier for Maintaining

While the oil works to deep condition, it leaves your hair less frizzy and gives a lasting look of shine to your hair. Putting some in your hands and rubbing into your hair  will make it easier to maintain and style your hair throughout the day. The oil consistency also protects your hair from environment obstacles such as humidity or wind.

How to Use Coconut Oil as a Hair Mask

Step 1: Apply a teaspoon amount of oil into the palm of your hands and start rubbing the oil into your hands until a liquid substance is left in your palms

Step 2: Massage the oil through all parts of your hair evenly. The roots of your hair and ends of your hair especially need the oil lathered in.

Step 3: Apply more oil depending on how thick and long your hair is and leave the oil in from anywhere between 30 minutes to overnight. For best results, keep the oil in overnight.
