Best Ways to keep yourself busy this Summer

Summer calls for a time to reset, rejuvenate and relax your mind, body and soul. There are so many things that you can do based on your interests. These are the Best Ways to keep yourself busy this summer.

It’s the perfect time to detach yourself from all the ongoing or past stresses and tension in your life.

After all those stressful classes, assignments and deadlines, your body craves that well deserved break! As amazing as summer sounds with all its freedom, if you don’t make up your mind to plan things out, you could be wasting a lot of precious time that you cannot take back. So be mindful and make this summer count!

Here are 7 ways to keep yourself busy this summer.

Learn a language

This can be way more interesting and fun than you think! Learning a new language will be very easy as long as you are determined and passionate about learning a new skill. For instance, I started learning Korean (Hangul) and I love it. Learning a new language will benefit you in so many ways including improved memory function, enhanced problem solving skills and creative thinking. Hence, learning a second language can help develop new areas of your mind and strengthen your brain’s natural ability to focus. Also who doesn’t want to be bilingual or multilingual. Knowing a second language will help you understand and communicate with more people and it will also benefit your resume and future career. This is the power of language!

Spend more time with Family and Friends

The summer is the perfect time to reconnect and make up for all the time that you didn’t spend with friends and family. Go out for lunch or the movies, hang out at a theme park or even go out on a picnic or to the beach to reestablish and strengthen the connections and relationships with loved ones.

Cook/ Bake

Take this time to test or even improve and enhance your cooking skills. Cooking and baking are both extremely therapeutic and cathartic activities. This will also give you a chance to bond with your loved ones. Cooking enriches the soul because not only does it calm and relax the mind, it also nourishes your body. So use TikTok, YouTube or even a book of recipes to make mouthwatering food that will blow the minds of people around you.

Invest in yourself Mentally and Physically

This is essential to stimulate and facilitate personal growth! By investing in yourself mentally, I meant, take time to discover your strengths and weaknesses.

Stay positive and keep a healthy mindset.

Also enrich your mind by reading, to increase your knowledge and boost your wisdom. Take a yoga or meditation class to discover and reach your higher self. Take a moment to see where you are right now and start making goals. Try manifesting to become the person you want to be 5 years from now.
Invest in yourself physically by working out, eating healthy, and following a proper skincare routine. All of these things will help you get that summer glow- up by creating a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

Take a well deserved vacay or trip

Summer is all about having fun and being happy! Take a vacation, a break from the daily routine, a break from the environment that you’re used to and step into the unknown. Step out of your comfort zone and travel overseas. Take a road trip with friends or family and just enjoy the moment and have fun. You could even take a tour around Europe, or visit your local national parks for nature and wildlife or even have thrilling adventures at theme parks like Universal Studios and Disney Land. Life is short so start travelling, you will not regret it!

Create goals and use this time to boost your academics/ future career

This break will also be a great time for you to reorganize your academic and student life because it will give you time to think where and what you want to be. You could take summer classes, to be a step ahead in college, allowing you to graduate early. Or you could apply for internship and research positions that would likely enhance your skills and improve your resume. You could also take additional or external online classes to learn a new skill or you could even volunteer at places like dog shelters, elders homes etc. There are a plethora of options to choose from, and it all depends on what you really want to do. So take a step back, listen to your heart and just make it happen.

Try new things

By this I mean, step out of your comfort zone. All the things that I have achieved so far, the experiences, internships, skills and opportunities are all results of me taking big or small steps into unfamiliar territory.

My mother told me, if something doesn’t excite, scare or challenge you, it won’t change you!

In other words, you’re always one decision away from a totally different life and change starts from you, within you, so if you want something you have to make it happen. You will never know if you are good at something or if you like something, unless you try it! So take time to try new things this summer. Take an art class or try your hand at gardening. Try Go kart racing, horse riding, singing, producing music or even making TikTok videos. You never know you might even go viral. Start a side hustle/ business and become a young entrepreneur. The opportunities are endless!

These are just a handful of all the possible things that you could do to keep yourself busy this summer. I urge you not to waste time, please make this summer count!
