Benefits of Zinc

Zinc is a natural nutrient inside our bodies. This nutrient is very important in supporting our immune system and metabolism. It also heals wounds and helps with our taste and smell. The benefits of zinc are appalling- it helps nourish our bodies in so many ways.

The benefits of zinc most importantly include supporting our immune system.

Yes, it is in our bodies, but it does not produce it naturally. We get zinc through our diets, vitamins, and more. It is essential to our bodies because it supports DNA synthesis, growth, and development, wound healing, and more. Zinc is also beneficial for acne. This is because it is used on top of the skin in treatment. By this I mean in a topical solution. There are many skincare brands such as The Ordinary that sell a solution. Zinc helps with inflammation and oily skin.

Something I recently learned is that zinc helps with our taste and smell. This is because there is an enzyme that depends on zinc for its nutrients. Being deficient in zinc can reduce our senses of tasting and smelling. This is really interesting to me because zinc may help with the symptoms of COVID-19 because losing taste and smell is not enjoyable. Also, we all know it is amazing for the immune system.

Having about 100mg of zinc a day reduces the symptoms of a common cold. Zinc is good for all ages but older adults notice it reduces the risk of infections and helps with immune response. Zinc benefits the immune system by making it work faster and stronger.

There are risks for people who experience zinc deficiency. The zinc-deficient groups include vegetarians, vegans, those who abuse alcohol, pregnant women, chronic kidney disease, bulimic people, and much more. If you fall into these categories, make sure to start consuming zinc immediately. It is important to support your immune system and start taking care of your diets today.

Zinc supplements can be found everywhere.
