When we talk about working out and exercising, we often neglect the importance of a pre-workout routine. Arguably, warming up and preparing can be one of the most important factors in the effectiveness of your workout! Here are 3 key things you should do before your workout:
You’ve probably heard countless people telling you to drink water during and after your workout. Drinking water before your workout is equally important. When we exercise, we sweat and become dehydrated. You can help reduce the level of dehydration by ensuring that you are well hydrated before your workout. If you don’t like the taste of plain water, try adding some lemon juice or fresh mint leaves.
Prep your post-workout meal:
You know the feeling after a high-intensity workout: tired and exhausted. Because we have already exhausted ourselves during our workout, it is difficult to do more work and cook your own meal. It’s tempting to quickly order food online or to grab a bag of chips. By preparing before your workout, you’ve already done the hard work and you are eliminating that after a workout “cheat meal”. Pull your hair out of your face:
This is a strange one: why would hair affect your performance? Well, it’s not the athletic performance we’re worried about this time, it’s your skin. When you work out, you sweat and the pores on your face open up. By keeping hair out of your face, you are eliminating the amount of dirt and germs entering your skin and reducing acne.
